We often think of negotiation as the special preserve
of professional negotiators. But if you think about it, we are all
negotiating a lot of the time.
Parents negotiate with children about bedtime. Husbands
and wives negotiate about where to eat or which movie to see. Managers
negotiate with staff, salespeople with customers, Department heads
negotiate with each other.
Successful negotiation is not about getting your
needs met at others’ expense. Rather is the most rewarding
way of resolving conflict.
It is a process by which people meet each others'
needs amicably.
