WHO IS THE KIT FOR ?

This module is relevant to a wide range of training and development situations. It can be used to help anyone in the organisation who’s effectiveness depends on their communication skills – which is most of us.

As well as being a module in its own right, it can be used as part of programmes on Communication, Management and Supervision, Motivation, Influencing Skills, Managing Change, Appraisal, Performance Management, Counselling, Selling, Sales Management, and Interpersonal Skills.

WHY WAS THE KIT DEVELOPED ?

Having spent many years helping people to develop communication skills, we observed that most people spend most of their lives on 'transmit' – they believe that communication is about talking, expressing their ideas, persuading others and winning arguments.

However, really good communicators are good at 'receiving' – listening to others, asking questions and helping others to formulate and express their own ideas.

We developed this module to help participants on our programmes to develop the skills they need if they are to really connect with colleagues, team members, clients or customers.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Be able to use appropriate questioning and clarifying techniques which can be used in a variety of business situations.
  • Have identified appropriate questioning strategies to be used in a number of management, coaching and sales situations.
  • Develop their awareness of the barriers to effective listening.
  • Have experienced for themselves the techniques of effective listening.
  • Understand the principles of effective listening.
  • Practised a range of responding and empathic skills.

This 56 page module contains everything you need to run a basic 4 hour module on Face to Face Communication. The pack contains:

If you are new to training you will find this module user friendly, with clear, easy to use instructions at every stage.

If you are an experienced trainer, this material will save you hours of preparation time. The flexibility of the package makes it very easy to modify so you can add your own ideas or you favourite activities and exercises.
